What Is AMERICAN ROAD®?

AMERICAN ROAD® is a quarterly, all-color, 100-page magazine that celebrates America’s two-lane highways and the people and places that make them great.

What types of articles are in AMERICAN ROAD®?

The AMERICAN ROAD® staff collectively boasts more than 100 years in professional travel writing experience. With that record, it’s small wonder that each issue of AMERICAN ROAD® is packed bumper-to-bumper with “the best of the best” in road-travel reading. When we choose our feature stories, we do so with one goal in mind: to put you in the driver’s seat and send you rolling down America’s back roads—to the mom-and-pop cafes, the small towns glowing with neon, and the people and personalities who make each journey worthwhile. Our recurring departments—Thinkin’ Lincoln; Along the Yellowstone Trail; Our National Road; One to 101; The Playground Trail; and 66 Kicks—are penned by road scholars who are nationally lauded for their knowledge. Add to this our interviews with highway preservationists and road legends, and the traditional beauty of any Mock Turtle Press publication, and you have the perfect magazine for historic travelers, nostalgia buffs, and anyone who believes America is worth exploring. Quite simply, there exists no other magazine like AMERICAN ROAD®.
