Ron Hart of the Route 66 Chamber of Commerce called me to advise that the Spring River Bridge just East of Carthage, MO (Route 66/MO SR 96) will be closed for 4-6 months beginning May 30. There will be a detour marked by MoDOT but there is also an alternative alignment of Route 66 which Ron Hart outlines on the following link:

The bridges are cool as hell, but unfortunately they are in very poor shape...one could hope that MoDOT will take some queues from IDot, who did some awesome bridges along Route 66 in Illinois!
